I was discussing with a friend, Liam, the idea of Love and what it means to him. I started off with the broad question of ‘what is love’. He turned around and basically said that whatever I think it is, I was correct.
By saying this, he of course implied that love is such a diverse thing, that each persons own perception of it is the only true defining meaning. This didn’t exactly help me define, in his words, what Love is though. I re-established my stance and asked ‘what is Love, to you?’.
Once more I was given an answer which in itself was very broad, but in no way incorrect. He spoke about the types of love, love between friends, and what it felt like to be in love. I agreed with what I understood- but could not understand it fully.

Speaking with Liam, I reflected greatly on what I thought Love was, and it is what I’ve always thoguht it to be: a Journey.

If you consider Love, surely it goes hand in hang with things such as Lust, Jealousy, Fascination and all the in between. If to experience love, you need to pass through these pit-stops along the way: Love is simply the destination- the final goal.

To be depressed you go through a range of emotions including loneliness, anger, anxiety… Love is simply the opposite: you feel complete, companionship, happiness, lust, need, wanted…

Rather than ‘falling in love’, I believe that it is about finding your way. There is a million different paths and we each take our own: but we all end up at the same destination. Some people don’t feel jealousy, others don’t need physical attaction, some don’t need sex: there is no difference in the fact that the destination is Love, simply the journey varied.
